Clinging harder to the person who hurt you (trauma bonding)

๐Ÿ”— Trauma bonding describes the state where, in a relationship alternating threats, insults, and control with tenderness, your heart binds harder to the person hurting you โ€” and leaving gets harder.

It is not weakness of will. Lay out the good moments and the painful ones together, in time order.

Often seen in situations like these

โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน After a harsh onslaught comes sudden tenderness.
โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน However much pain there was, the few kind scenes keep replaying.
โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน When people worry, you find yourself defending that person first.

When this happens, try this

๐Ÿ’ก Write the good moments and the painful ones together, in date order. If distance is needed, calmly plan a safe approach with someone you trust or a professional counselor.
