Deny, attack, and play the victim (DARVO)

๐Ÿ”„ DARVO describes the sequence that follows a called-out behavior: Deny it happened, Attack the person who raised it, then Reverse Victim and Offender.

The term alone judges no one's hidden motives or character. Look at the actual words exchanged, and their order.

Often seen in situations like these

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ (When the fault is named) "I never did that!" (Deny) โ†’ "You're always suspecting me like this!" (Attack) โ†’ "Do you know what people like you put me through? You're the real abuser!" (Reverse roles)

When this happens, try this

๐Ÿ’ก When the denial starts and you begin morphing into the villain, skip the long defense and end the conversation. Don't get pulled in โ€” briefly note the original objective facts instead.
