Narcissism Glossary

Reputation placed ahead of actual behavior (image management)

👔 Grooming a fine public image while working, in word and deed, to make whoever raised a problem look unreliable.

A polished profile or good reputation isn't itself the problem. Look for the actual behavior: taking others' credit, or smearing the person who spoke up.

Often seen in situations like these

👍 A teammate's work gets reported as their own achievement — the teammate's name omitted.
🎭 When their private behavior risks exposure, the person who might tell gets smeared with gossip and false rumors first.

When this happens, try this

💡 Appearances alone warrant neither trust nor suspicion. Look at what can be verified: work records, conversations, and how they actually behave in close relationships.
