Narcissism Glossary

A non-diagnostic term for attachment under threat (Stockholm syndrome)

⛓️ Stockholm syndrome is an informal term for the complicated response of developing attachment or sympathy toward someone who threatens you, and defending their behavior.

Not a formal diagnosis — and this response alone doesn't define the whole relationship.

Often seen in situations like these

💭 "They're really just a wounded, pitiable person. I have to be the one who understands."
🚓 Even offered help, you decline it — to protect them.

When this happens, try this

💡 Pause the self-accusation of "I must be crazy." Quietly remember: pitying their misfortune and protecting your own daily life and safety are entirely separate undertakings.
